Insight

Hungry Donkey Greek Kitchen got in touch after seeing our restaurant website development work for Rosa’s Thai Café. Their previous site was limited in both pages and functionality, with no online menus, and it wasn’t doing the brand justice. They wanted a full redesign—built from the ground up—to create something more engaging, user-friendly, and imaginative. We were excited to get started.

With Hungry Donkey’s cartoon donkey, quirky typography, and vibrant food photography, we had everything we needed to craft a bold, mouth-watering online presence—one that stands out alongside other websites for Greek restaurants.

Website design

Hungry Donkey needed the new site to clearly communicate the full range of what they offer: restaurant dining, delivery, and events & catering. Their customers span lunchtime office trade, corporate delivery, and the after-work crowd looking to unwind—so the experience had to feel effortless no matter the user’s intent.

Central to the project was their commitment to authentic Greek food. Bringing that story to life—while making menus easy to find and explore—was key.

We began by mapping out a clearer structure for the site. Great restaurant website development starts with understanding how people actually use a restaurant site:

We don’t do off-the-shelf. At Union 10, crafted design meets tech-savvy coding — every website is built around your business, your audience, your content and your priorities, so it feels on-brand and delivers a great user experience. We take a mobile-first approach with responsive layouts, and we build sites that are easy to manage, with an intuitive CMS and the functionality you need to run and grow with confidence.

Why businesses choose us

→ Finding somewhere nearby while out in the city
→ Checking menus before ordering takeaway
→ Booking a table or arranging a corporate function

Because these needs often happen on different devices, we ensured the website performed beautifully across mobile, tablet, and desktop.

One of the client’s wishes was to animate the donkey—so we brought him to life with a wink and a playful ear flick.

Restaurant website development

To make bookings seamless, we integrated the ResDiary widget so customers can book a table quickly from any device. A smooth booking journey is essential for turning browsers into diners.

We also advised on a gift card solution using VoucherCart, and supported setup for Mailchimp mailing lists—helping Hungry Donkey stay connected with customers, promote seasonal offers, and boost quieter trading periods.

As with all our restaurant websites, we built a flexible menu template that lets the team add and update menus easily, without relying on developer time. The result isn’t just a simple list—it’s a well-designed, on-brand menu experience that’s clear, readable, and easy to maintain.

Support and maintenance

We provided training so the Hungry Donkey team could confidently manage the site and optimise key pages for SEO. We also host the website and can share hosting package options if you’re interested.

Printed menus

Following the website launch, we went on to redesign Hungry Donkey’s printed menus too—more on that soon. We’ve built extensive experience in this area through our work with McMullen.
