Client: Janno Media

Completed: August 2025

Sector: Full-service content production (video, motion, podcasts)

Deliverables: Bespoke WordPress design, technical SEO, and scalable templates

Outcome: Gold Winner: Website of the Year (SME MK & Buckinghamshire Awards)

Insights

Janno Media are a full-service content provider, delivering video, motion graphics, live streaming, podcasts, photography and digital signage. As their offer expanded, they needed a more modern website – one that looked sharp, used motion and high-end interactions to strengthen the brand, and showcased their services and work with real energy. Just as importantly, it had to stay practical day to day, with a flexible CMS the team could manage confidently.

The result was a bespoke WordPress website with polished transitions and refined interactions, built on a robust CMS – designed to elevate the brand and support long-term growth. The project went on to win Gold Winner: Website of the Year at the SME MK & Buckinghamshire Business Awards.

Our approach

The key challenge was balancing motion and video with performance. Video-heavy pages can slow a site down, and modern interactions need to feel refined without adding bloat – so we designed motion as part of the user experience, not an afterthought. We made performance decisions early, starting in the design stage, so we were clear on the parameters from day one – what would move, what would be video, and how we’d keep everything fast and smooth.

We treated the build as a system – not a set of one-off pages – creating reusable templates and modules that keep publishing quick, consistent and on-brand. Work pages were designed to be repeatable and easy to update, so new projects can be added without reinventing layouts each time. We also built technical SEO in from the start, giving the site clean foundations for visibility and performance.

Motion and interaction

Animation is part of Janno’s world – so the site needed movement that felt intentional, not distracting. We used GSAP to create a smooth, high-end feel across the site, with effects that respond naturally to scrolling.

GSAP tools used

ScrollSmoother
We used ScrollSmoother to create a smoother scroll experience, so sections build naturally as you move down the page. It also helped us achieve subtle parallax – where foreground and background elements move at different speeds to create depth.

ScrollTrigger
We used ScrollTrigger to control when animations run, based on scroll position. Instead of effects playing on page load, animations are triggered at specific points as the user reaches a section – for example:

  • Revealing headings and content blocks as they enter the viewport
  • Staggering elements so layouts “build” in sequence (rather than appearing all at once)
  • Triggering transitions when a section hits a defined start point (e.g., top of viewport, centre, or a custom offset)
  • Syncing animation timing to scroll progress for a more responsive, tactile feel

The goal was simple – keep the site feeling alive, while staying controlled, readable, and performance-conscious.

Video strategy

Video is central to Janno’s work, but it can quickly slow a site down if it’s handled badly. We kept things lightweight by design:

  • Short, looped clips – trimmed to the essentials to keep file sizes small
  • Vimeo hosting – so the heavy lifting sits off-site and pages stay responsive
  • Considered placement – using video where it adds impact, not everywhere by default

This approach kept the site visually rich without turning performance into a trade-off.

What we built and why it matters

What Union 10 delivered

1

Service-led structure

We organised the site around how Janno sell – and how clients buy – with clear service pathways (Video, Motion Graphics, Live Streaming, Podcasts, Photography, Digital Signage) so visitors can find the right offer fast.

2

Work that’s built for browsing

We created a dedicated Work system with Service + Sector filtering, making it easy to explore relevant examples without endless scrolling.

3

Motion that earns its place

Animation is used with purpose – adding energy and polish, including video-led featured tiles that showcase capability without relying on a separate showreel page.

4

Bespoke WordPress templates

We built flexible page templates and reusable modules that give the team freedom, while keeping layouts consistent and on-brand across the site.

5

Performance-first video handling

Video is kept lightweight and intentional – short, looped clips hosted on Vimeo – so pages stay fast, responsive and smooth even with rich media.

6

Accessibility baked into the system

Clean structure and reusable components help the site stay usable and consistent as new pages are added – reducing the risk of avoidable accessibility issues over time.

7

SEO-ready foundations

Technical SEO was built in from the start, with strong page structure and clear editorial control over on-page elements – giving Janno a solid base for ongoing optimisation.

Ongoing support, built in

Union 10 hosts the site and provides ongoing support, so Janno get continuity, quick fixes and proactive guidance – not “good luck” after launch.

That includes managed hosting with monitoring and backups, core and plugin updates, security housekeeping, and a clear route for improvements, new templates or added features as the site evolves.

Just as importantly, the team can manage the site in-house day to day – and it’s built to scale. When Janno need something new, we can add sections and modules that extend the template system cleanly, without bloating the site or breaking consistency.
